Shipyard
The Bay
Often, when a free evening presents itself, I will grab a camera, earbuds, and a mask and begin walking. Experiencing golden hour in Bellingham has been a joy; the light has a more pinkish orange hue than in Colorado, and I swear that the best light sticks around for twice as long. On these walks, I’ll walk until I see a moment or scene I’d like to capture, take a single frame and continue moving. With the spectacular golden two hours’ light, taking a bad picture is nearly impossible. I chase the light until dusk, usually while watching the sun set on the bay and then head home. Being anti-social, I avoid larger groups of people. Being a creature of habit, I push myself to avoid going to the same locations. I keep my camera kit simple: one body and one prime lens. My lens choice stems from nothing in particular though my favorites are my 85mm and my 25mm. The photos from this walk come courtesy of a few open gates, a still shipyard and a bit of good ole bushwhacking.
